In Tamilnadu, there are 30 DIETs (District Institutes of Education and Training) 9 Government TTIsÏ 43 ded TTIs, and 680 Self/ financing TTIs, In all, there are 762 Teacher Training Institutes in Tamilnadu.

In all the 30 DIETs, 4800 student- teachers of both the sexes are studying in I and II year DTEd. Classes. 706 Teacher Educators are working in DIETs.
In 9 TTIs, 720 students-teachers of both the sexes are studying in I & II year DTEd. Classes . 54 Teachers-Educators are working in the Government TTIs.
In I year and II year DTEd classes of 680 Self-Financing TTIs, 91,700 student teachers of both the sexes are studying. In these private TTIs 6,223 teachers are working.
